Equipment at The Studio

The Reformer

The Reformer

One of many pieces of equipment created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. The design of the universal Reformer has not changed over the years, only the quality of the materials used make it a superior piece of apparatus. It is a complex machine using ropes springs and straps connected to a gliding carriage to create assistance and resistance. It offers enormous potential for quality movements. Exercises preformed range from fundamental to advanced making it accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

The Cadillac

The Cadillac

Joseph first came up with this wonderful idea whilst he worked in a hospital camp during WW1. He attached his fellow inmates to springs and ropes connected their beds so they could move and exercise and gain strength to help them recover from their war time injuries. The Cadillac offers and even greater range of movement. The exercises preformed range from fundamental to extremely advanced, even acrobatic in their style giving the user a fantastic workout improving strength mobility and balance.

The Combo Chair

The Combo Chair

A small but brilliant piece of equipment. Joseph designed this to be used at home, making it one of the first pieces of home gym equipment that could also double up as a piece of furniture! Due to its small area of support, the chair requires immense concentration and stability from the user. Expect to work every part of your body!
